Re: YELLOW BEAK

As for-mentioned have seen a number of starlings pass thru, just stopping long enough to check the SREH on the housing, but later arrivals have not visited the "one way" elevator trap. How many of you PM people are using or even aware of how effective the elevator style trap is for capturi...

Re: YELLOW BEAK

HAVE SEEN NO HS IN THE PAST FEW YEARS, NO GRAIN ON SITE PROBABLY HELPS!

THE "ELEVATOR TRAP" HAS ELLIMINATED FOUR YELLOW BEAKS SO FAR, BUT
HAVE SEEN A FEW MORE CHECKING THE SRE ENTRYS ON THE PUMA HOUSING, ON
THEIR WAY THRU.

WHAT CONTROLL METHODS, IF ANY, ARE REST OF YOU APPLYING :?:

Re: Control of heat and cold for housing

Thanks Dave,

If I get martins nesting, the owl guard will be installed ;)
Are owls generally an issue in Iowa, or is it mostly rural?
Are mesh guards widely used, by LL there?

Re: Winter a good time to prepare for martins arrival.

Thanks Dave, Sounds like my uncle has an antiquated system and may have encroching trees. If he calls for some help, I may have to do a site evaluation and suggest an upgraded system. If it turns out the site is ok and he agrees to an upgrade, would you think a good winch pole /w a small 2 or 4 comp...

Re: MAYDAY, MAYDAY!

PERRY, Thanks for the heads-up on how to open the "mudding link", that worked. Have also read where painting a layer of mud inside the nest tray is attractive to PM. Will be adding some our houses, for spring 2014, in hopes of retaining tennants. Good luck to all who try this. Thanks, Jerome
