This years stats:

86 pair
419 eggs many duds (cold early weather, some re-layed) one nest had 13 eggs total none hatched
343 hatched
310 fledged
All young were banded again this year. Over 57 banded birds observed at this colony. At least one pair, both banded last year fledged young. Banded birds from here observed nesting in Fosston, Bagley and Bemidji.
I show 58 ASYM pairs and 28 SYM pairs. Many SYM bachelors around at fledge time causing chaos.

Last Years stats:

67 pair
324 eggs
269 hatched
264 fledged
48 ASYM pairs and 19 SYM pairs

Last PM's observed on 8/29 flying around over site singing for about 10 minutes all were SY's or young of year. There were 9 birds. Brother's place at Mille Lacs Lake PM's gone for about 2 weeks now.

Fantastic increase in nesters, in spite of cold, slow start.

Might the lower fledge/eggs ratio, adversly affect the number of return nesters?

Not likely to affect returns as most unhatched eggs were scattered around in nests that fledged other young. Only one nest had about 13 unhatched eggs laid in it over the season, apparent retries as many times the number went down and more infertile eggs were laid.

Considering the springs we've experienced as of late.
May explain the large % of SY nesters in your colony!
Curious if others saw similar results.
Lets hope Mom Nature delivers Moderation ahead of PM for 2017 ;)
