Purple Martin Free Zone

The Purple Martins are north, east, and west of me, but Grand Forks, ND remains a Purple Martin free zone so far this year! I have checked all the sites that I monitor and all of them all empty.

This afternoon there was a Northern Mockingbird serenading me all afternoon. The only sounds even similar to the Purple Martin were unfortunately made by the mockingbird.

Do we have others who are still waiting for their arrivals?

Mr. Perry

From what have noticed, no scout reports from Viking or Williams (Adrian's)
Colony in T.R.F has 3 or 4 A.S.Y birds as of 4/29/16.
Checked 2 sites at Warren on 4/27/16, no activity.
Haven't checked with Honker Flats yet.

Five new sites I monitor locally, no Purple!

Some sites to our south are showing lower numbers, although there are some new starts!

Are overall numbers down due to the recent cold spring losses, combined /w poor migration conditions, low forage/low fledge survival :?:

Congratulations! I'm so happy they've found their way home to you.

There are far fewer numbers here. I know there are eight birds hanging around my gourds right now. There may be more, but the most I've seen at once is eight. They are playing musical gourds between all the gourds with porches. I've got to get more tunnels, or at least porches installed.

Normally I have a cloud of 20 or more martins show up at first, and then the extras disperse. Not this year.
